James Fanto is the Gerald Baylin Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Center for the Study of Business Law & Regulation at Brooklyn Law School. He teaches courses on banking, broker-dealer law, regulation and compliance, corporate and securities law, corporate finance, and comparative and international corporate law and governance. He is an Associate Reporter on ALI’s Principles of Corporate Compliance project.
Professor Fanto is co-director of the Center for the Study of Business Law and Regulation, and is affiliated with the Dennis J. Block Center for the Study of International Business Law and the Center for Law, Language & Cognition.
He clerked for Justice Harry A. Blackmun on the U.S. Supreme Court and for Judge Louis H. Pollak of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He later practiced law with Davis Polk & Wardwell.
