The Louis D. Brandeis School of Law has announced that Sherrilyn Ifill will receive the 2023 Brandeis Medal.

The Brandeis Medal is given in tribute to Louis D. Brandeis, who was U.S. Supreme Court justice from 1916 to 1939. The medal is awarded to individuals “lives reflect a commitment to individual liberty, concern for the disadvantaged and public service.”

Ifill was the president and director-counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund from 2013 to 2022. She was named Attorney of the Year by The American Lawyer in 2020 and named on Time Magazine’s ‘100 Most Influential People’ list in 2021.

Ifill will receive the medal at a ceremony in Louisville, Kentucky on March 8, 2023. Learn more about the event here.
