James Nafziger Receives the 2021 Charles Siegal Service Award

James A.R. Nafziger of Willamette University College of Law was selected as the 2021 recipient of the Charles Siegal Distinguished Service Award. Established by the American Branch of the International Law Association (ABILA), the award recognizes “outstanding contributions to the ABILA by a member of the ABILA Board, ABILA Committees, and/or the ABILA’s International Law Weekend.”

Nafziger is recognized for his 40 years of work with ABILA, including chairing the Human Rights Committee, serving as the director of studies, vice president, and president.

In addition to this award, Nafziger has authored the book Frontier of Cultural Heritage Law, in which he applies information developed by the International Law Association’s Committee on Cultural Heritage Law. The book discusses how this area of law demonstrates the work of transnationalism, combining national initiatives and diplomacy, intergovernmental agreements, international custom, and non-governmental initiatives. More about the book can be found on the publisher’s website.
