Edward Foley Awarded Guggenheim Fellowship

Edward B. Foley of The Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law is a recipient of the 2023 Guggenheim Fellowship. He was awarded the Dorothy Tapper Goldman Foundation Fellowship in Constitutional Studies.

On receiving the award, Foley remarked he is “thrilled and honored to receive this support for work on how majority rule fits within America's constitutional system of judicially protected fundamental rights, federalism, and separation of powers, and how innovations in majority-winner elections can improve this fit.” Foley will use the fellowship to support his work on a new book addressing a gap in American’s understanding of its own constitutional democracy.

The Guggenheim Foundation was founded in 1925 by Simon and Olga Guggenheim in memory of their son John Simon Guggenheim. The foundation works to “further the development of scholars and artists by assisting them to engage in research in any field of knowledge and creation in any of the arts, under the freest possible conditions.”

The full list of the 2023 fellowship recipients is available on the Guggenheim Foundation website.
