Flávio Luiz Yarshell is a Founding Partner at Yarshell e Camargo Advogados, a law firm in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He practices as an attorney-at-law in the areas of consultancy and litigation for (among others) civil procedural law, civil law, commercial and corporate law, business and administrative law.
He graduated from University of São Paulo Law School with a Brazilian law degree and subsequently earned a Master of Laws (1992) and PhD (1997) from the same institution. Since 2008, he is a Full Professor of University of São Paulo Law School.
From 2006 to 2012, Flávio Luiz Yarshell presided as a Judge at the Electoral Court of São Paulo, Brazil.
He have lectured and written extensively on topics covered in his practice areas. Flávio is also a member of several institutions including the Brazilian Institute of Procedural Law (since 1993), the Iberian-American Institute of Procedural Law (since 1994), and the International Association of Procedural Law (since 1999).
In 2017, Flávio Luiz Yarshell won first place in the 59th “Prêmio Jabuti” (the most important award of the Brazilian literature), due to the publishing of the complete work, totalling 17 books, among which “Comentários ao Código de Processo Civil” (Commentaries to the Code of Civil Procedure), from articles 334 to 368, co-authors Guilherme Setoguti J. Pereira and Viviane Siqueira Rodrigues, coordinators: Sérgio Cruz Arenhart and Daniel Mitidiero, v. V, São Paulo, Revista dos Tribunais, 2016, now in its second edition.
As a Full Professor at University of São Paulo Law School, the most important Law School in Brazil, Flávio is engaged in providing professional education to lawyers. Flávio is always studying and working on improving Brazilian civil procedural system as well.
Flávio is Member of the arbitration boards as Center for Arbitration and Mediation of the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CAM-CCBC), Arbitration and Mediation Chamber of the Brazilian Rural Society, and Mediation and Arbitration Chamber (CAMITAL) and at the Italian-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ITALCAM).
Flávio was pointed by “Latin Lawyers” as a specialist in “Brazil – Commercial Litigation” in 2014 e 2015, “Litigation” in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, and by “Análise Advocacia” as one of the most admired lawyers in Brazil in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
