Karen Carroll has been an Associate Justice on the Vermont Supreme Court since April 2017. Prior to that she had been a Judge on the Vermont Superior Court since December 2000. Prior to that, she was Assistant Attorney General–Prosecutor for the Southern Vermont Drug Task Force; Special Assistant U.S. Attorney at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Vermont; and Chief Deputy State’s Attorney at Windham County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Judge Carroll has been Chair of Vermont Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Board; a member and Chair of Vermont Judiciary Criminal Division Oversight Committee; and Chairperson of Windham County Bench/Bar Committee, She has been an instructor at the Vermont Police Academy and has taught Criminal Procedure and Criminal Law at Community College of Vermont.
She has also been a member of the Vermont Judiciary Employee Education Committee, the Vermont Council on Domestic Violence; and the Judicial Branch Education Committee.
