Joe Matthews has been a full time Arbitrator and Mediator since 2017. He was for twenty-eight years a business litigation lawyer at Colson Hicks & Edison. He joined the firm in 1989 after spending more than a decade as a named partner in a business law firm in Miami.
Mr. Matthews is a fellow, member of the board of directors and former President of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers; a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a fellow of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He is an Honorary Bencher of the Inn of Court of Northern Ireland.
Mr. Matthews has been a member of the Board of Directors of the American Arbitration Association and served on its Executive Committee for three years. He is listed on several panels of the AAA/ICDR and other arbitral panels in the U.S. and around the world.
Before joining Colson Hicks Eidson, he served as Special Counsel to U.S. Senator Bob Graham. Mr. Matthews is a Florida Certified Circuit Mediator and serves as mediator in commercial, construction and personal injury cases pending in state and federal courts of the United States, as well as in commercial or investment arbitration disputes internationally.
