Rebecca White Berch joined the Arizona Supreme Court in March 2002 and became its Chief Justice in July 2009. Prior to that, she served on the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division I, from April 1998 to March 2002. She became Vice Chief Justice in 2005.
Chief Justice Berch began her legal career as a partner at McGroder Tryon Heller Rayes & Berch before serving as Director of the Legal Writing Program at Arizona State University College of Law. She served as Solicitor General for the State of Arizona from 1991 to 1994, and as Special Counsel to the Arizona Attorney General from 1995 to 1996. She was the First Assistant Arizona Attorney General from 1996 to 1998.
Chief Justice Berch has taught at the Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles.
