Alan Mills joined Barnes & Thornburg in 1982 and became a partner in the firm’s Indianapolis office in 1990. He focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and bankruptcy matters.
He is Chair of the firm’s Special Servicer Team and formerly chaired the Financial Institutions Practice Group. He has also served on the firm’s Management, Recruiting, and Client Relations Committees, and has co-chaired the Finance, Insolvency and Restructuring Department. He is also the former president of the Marion County Bar Association, a former chairperson of the Indiana State Election Board, and a member of the firm’s Litigation and Finance, Insolvency and Restructuring Departments.
Mr. Mills is admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit; the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern District of New York, the District of Delaware, and the Northern District of Illinois; the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado; and the Indiana federal and state courts. He is a Harry S. Truman Scholar and a former note and development editor of the Indiana Law Review.
