I have spent my professional career in the federal courts, beginning as a law clerk for Judge Oren Lewis (EDVirginia) and with the Ciil Rights Division of USDOJ, fighting the Klan in the Deep South. I have been on the Criminal Justice Act appointed counsel list for the MDNC and the 4th Circuit since 1969,longer than anyone. I am a priest in the Episcopal Church, ordained since 1985, and am a retired Lieutenant Commander, USNR, Class of 1964 - US Naval Academy. I have been married to Sara for 59 years. We have 3 grown sons and 2 grandchildren. At 81 I have no retirement plans, nor do I know what I want to be when I grow up. I have been a Durham Bulls baseball season ticket holder forever, and spend the summer at the ballpark.
