Michelle is American’s Deputy General Counsel and a Senior Vice President. She leads the corporate legal team and is responsible for commercial, corporate finance, securities and corporate governance matters. Before joining American, Michelle served as a partner at the law firm O’Melveny, managing a wide range of corporate and securities work for public and private companies and served on the Policy Committee. Prior to O’Melveny, Michelle was a partner at Locke Lord, where she served in several leadership positions, including as a member of the Executive Committee and co-chair of the Capital Markets practice. Michelle began her legal career as a clerk to the Honorable Thomas M. Reavley on the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Michelle currently serves on the board of directors for Adams Resources & Energy Inc. and Murphy Oil Corporation. Passionate about her community, she serves on the Board of Visitors of MD Anderson Cancer Center and as corporate secretary of Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center. She also recently served as an executive committee member for the Austin Area Research Organization and as board member for the Austin Ed Fund. She is an active member of Jack and Jill of America and Young Men’s Service League. Michelle and her husband, Bill, are the proud parents of Addison, Campbell and Beckett. Michelle holds a Juris Doctor from Yale University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas A&M University.
