Currently teaching as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Alabama Law School and Cumberland School of Law while also teaching in the Honors College University of Alabama. Teaching law for over 40 years in subjects including, “Legislation and the Making of Public Policy”, “Election Law and Policy”, and for over 10 years in UA Honors College courses titled: “Practical Politics”, “A Changing Electorate”, “Politics, Ethics and Lobbying” and “A Divided America”. For several years conducted a “Town Hall” class addressing major issues on Alabama Public Television.

 

While practicing law in Gadsden, AL. Bob received a call to head up the Alabama Law Institute. He would go on to and teach law and later become an Assistant Dean of the Law School. 

 

As Director of the Alabama Law Institute, for 37 year ALI he had with offices in the Law School and State House in Montgomery. The Institute was the legislative agency for transforming uniform and model acts into Alabama law. The Institute also staffed the legislative committees with lawyers and interns. In addition, trained Legislators, Probate Judges, Election Officials. A major project upon his retirement was to lead a drafting team for the Constitution Revision Commission to revise Alabama’s 1901 Constitution. This was after writing eleven books on law and government including: “Alabama Real Estate Handbook”, Law Office Practice Deskbook”,“The Legislative Process, A Handbook for Legislators”, “Alabama Election Handbook”, and Handbooks for Probate Judges, Sheriffs, County Commissioners and Tax Officials all with current editions.

 

A member of the bars of Alabama; District of Columbia; and U.S. Supreme Court. In addition, serving on the boards of the National Conference of State Legislatures and two years as International President of the Kiwanis International Foundation.
