Mark Cymrot heads BakerHostetler’s International Disputes Practice, focusing on international, commercial arbitration and litigation. He is a member of the Panel of Arbitrators of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), American Arbitration Association (AAA), and London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and former chair of its D.C. Chapter. Chambers & Partners ranks him in Band 1 of International Arbitrators.

Mr. Cymrot served as worldwide lead counsel to the Republic of Peru in $10 billion in lawsuits in eight countries arising from nonpayment of its sovereign commercial debt. He tried and won a $197 million jury verdict arising from an international conspiracy to manipulate silver prices; defeated $37 million fraud and breach of fiduciary duty claims and won counterclaims in a jury trial brought by Brunei's sovereign wealth fund, and defended the Fulton Fish Market Cooperative in a trial seeking to halt the market's historic move from Manhattan to the Bronx. He is counsel and neutral in international commercial and investment arbitrations.

A frequent speaker and author on litigation, arbitration and sovereign debt issues, including the methods of advocacy and cross-examination in international forums.  His first book is Squeezing Silver: Peru's Trial of Nelson Bunker Hunt.
