Oren Nimni is a civil rights attorney. Most recently Oren was the  Litigation Director at Rights Behind Bars and a Lecturer at Harvard Law School. In his role as Litigation Director role he managed the organization's docket and litigation strategy with a focus on utilizing a movement lawyering framework against prisons, jails, and immigration detention centers.

Oren has lead teams litigating numerous high profile matters including: Ryan v. ICE (chllange to the authority of ICE to arrest people in and around court houses); Savino v. Souza (conditions of confinement litigation at immigration detention center resulting in mass releases and closure); and California Coalition for Women Prisoners v. USBOP (class action against the federal BOP concerning widespread sexual assault, retaliation, and unconstitutional medical care in federal women's' facilities). He has also acted as counsel in dozens of appeals in the Court of Appeals litigating complicated issues concerning the Prison Litigation Reform Act, qualified immunity, Bivens, and substantive constitutional standards.
Before joining Rights Behind Bars, Oren was a Supervising Attorney at Lawyers for Civil Rights where he managed and practiced in the organization's immigrants' rights and criminal justice dockets.

Oren is the recipient of the Boston Bar Association’s 2020 President’s Award for impactful litigation in Massachusetts, and the American Constitution Society’s 2023 David Carliner Award which recognized him as a top civil rights attorney in the country for his innovative litigation tactics.

Oren is also the co-founder and former Legal Editor of Current Affairs Magazine.
