Paul is a former labor and employment law professor for 18 years with two different law schools, specializing in the law of ERISA and employee benefits law.  Attorney Secunda is a graduate of Harvard College and the Georgetown University Law Center.

 

Attorney Secunda’s legal career has been devoted to litigating, teaching, and writing about workplace law issues and handling all aspects of the employment relationship - from reviewing employee handbooks and summary plan descriptions (SPD) to litigating complex class actions and submitting amicus or friend of the court briefs to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and United States Supreme Court. Attorney Secunda is also a frequent speaker on employee benefits, labor, employment, and education law topics and issues.

 

Having published seven authoritative books and over 70 law review articles on employee benefits law, labor law, and employment discrimination law, Attorney Secunda is known nationally and internationally for his high level of expertise and skills, and has served as an expert, consultant, arbitrator, and mediator in these areas of the law. He has also been the chair of the U.S. Department of Labor’s ERISA Advisory Council and was selected as a Senior Fulbright Scholar to study comparatively the Australian pension system. Attorney Secunda’s overreaching goal is to guarantee that all employees are treated fairly in the workplace with regard to their benefits and to assure workplace justice in general.
