I have written a memoir titled "Renegade for Justice: Defending the Defenseless in an Outlaw World," published by the University Press of Kansas in 2022, which details, in conversational language, my 40 years of public interest law practice. For more information, please see my website: www.renegadeforjustice.com

My cases of record include Guiles v. Marineau, 461 F.3d 320 (2nd Cir. 2006), a leading case on student freedom of speech in the public schools of New York, Connecticut and Vermont); National Audubon Society v. Hoffman, which saved 5,561 acres of critical "deep woods" habitat for black bears and neotrpoical songbirds from U.S. Forest clearcutting; District Attorney v. Watson, 381 Mass. 648 (1980), striking down a death penalty statute on state constitutional grounds; and Walker v. Butterworth, 599 F.2d 1074 (1st Cir. 1979), which ended the routine use of the "prisoner's dock" in Massachusetts felony trials.
