Suzette Malveaux, Roger D. Groot Professor of Law at Washington and Lee University School of Law, has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Clyde Ferguson, Jr. Award. This prestigious honor, bestowed by the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) Section on Minority Groups, recognizes outstanding legal educators who have made significant contributions to public service, teaching, and scholarship.
Malveaux, a renowned expert in civil procedure and civil rights law, has dedicated her career to advancing justice and equality. Her scholarship has been widely published in leading legal journals, and her work has had a profound impact on the legal profession.

Prior to joining W&L Law, Malveaux held distinguished positions at the University of Colorado Boulder. She has also served as a civil rights attorney, representing victims of the Tulsa Race Massacre and leading high-profile class-action lawsuits.
