We are saddened to report that ALI Member Arlin M. Adams, passed away on December 22 in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. He was 94. Judge Adams served on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit from 1969 to 1987, and later joined Schnader Harrison as partner. He was considered for a U.S. Supreme Court seat by Presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald R. Ford and Ronald Reagan.
“Judge Adams was a gentle giant,” said Albert S. Dandridge III, chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association and a partner at Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis, the firm where Adams closed his career after his time on the bench. “[He was] as gentlemanly as you could possibly imagine, a brilliant intellect, above reproach—all of the things that most of us aspire to be in becoming a good lawyer and a good jurist. He was the gold standard.”
