John G. Levi of Sidley Austin was honored with the “Champion of Justice Award” at the 2019 Legal Aid Chicago Luncheon, presented by Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker.
Mr. Levi was commended for the significant impact he has made as Chairman of the Board of the Legal Services Corporation (LSC).
In his remarks at the luncheon, Mr. Levi underscored the necessity of legal aid support both in Chicago and throughout the United States. He stated, “this crisis in access to justice for low-income Americans is happening on our watch. Leaving this many people out to fend for themselves seriously erodes confidence in the fairness of our justice system and ultimately, in my view, jeopardizes the rule of law. Equal justice is not charity.”
