Ian Holloway Awarded Honorary Doctor of Laws

On June 13, at the Call to the Bar ceremony in London, Ontario, Ian C. Holloway of University of Calgary, Faculty of Law received a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa (LLD) from the Law Society of Ontario.

“It’s a tremendous honour, it came as a surprise, but it’s quite meaningful to me,” said Holloway. “I still consider myself to be a member of the legal profession, so to be honoured by one’s peers in this way is a special thing.”

Each year, the Law Society grants honorary doctorates “to distinguished individuals in recognition of outstanding achievements in the legal profession, the rule of law or the cause of justice.” Holloway is currently the longest serving law dean in Canada and second longest serving law dean in North America.
