On Nov. 8-9, Columbia Law School hosted the 15th Annual National Black Pre-Law Conference and Law Fair. Founded in 2005 by Evangeline M. Mitchell, the event includes a series of panels, workshops, and lectures from members of the legal community aimed at empowering aspiring black lawyers.
Marcilynn A. Burke of University of Oregon School of Law, Carla D. Pratt of Washburn University School of Law, Kimberly M. Mutcherson of Rutgers University School of Law, Patricia W. Bennett of Mississippi College School of Law, Danielle M. Conway of Penn State University, Dickinson School of Law, Michèle Alexandre of Stetson University College of Law, Verna L. Williams of University of Cincinnati College of Law, and Camille A. Nelson of American University, Washington College of Law were featured speakers at the conference and delivered a series of “ted talk” style lectures.
This year’s event also included an impressive number of ALI members as honorees of The John Mercer Langston Legal Education Leadership Award. Including those who delivered talks as indicated above, the following deans were also recognized:
