Steve Charnovitz teaches at George Washington University and writes on international trade, international law, U.S. foreign relations law, and environmental sustainability.   Prior to joining the GW Faculty in 2004, he practiced law for six years at the firm now known as Wilmer Hale in Washington, D.C.   From 1995 to 1999, he was Director of the Global Environment & Trade Study (GETS) located at Yale University.  From 1991 to 1995, he was Policy Director of the US Competitiveness Policy Council.  From 1987 to 1991, he was a Legislative Assistant to the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives (Wright and Foley).
