Please note: The 2024 Annual Meeting is taking place in San Francisco; all times listed are in Pacific Time, unless otherwise indicated.
The registration fee for the meeting is $200. This fee, which partially defrays the ALI’s costs of hosting the meeting, includes access to all project and special sessions held in the Grand Ballroom (May 20-22) and the special program Shortlisted scheduled for May 19 at 2:00 p.m.
Registrants have the option to purchase tickets to special events taking place at the Annual Meeting. Tickets may be purchased via the registration website (once registration opens), or at the on-site Annual Meeting registration desk (Italian Room Foyer at the Westin St. Francis). Advance registration is strongly recommended for each event as space is limited.
Members and project participants who plan to attend the project sessions must register individually for the Annual Meeting. Members may also purchase special event tickets for fellow members and social guests while registering (or on-site). See next question for nonmember guests.
Yes, members may invite nonmember colleagues to attend the Meeting and related events. Nonmembers must register in advance. For more information, please contact ALI’s Membership Department at membership@ali.org or 215-243-1624/1639
A Meeting App will be available for download. Instructions and details will be emailed in April.
To reduce barriers to participation and ensure diversity of thought and experience in our project discussions, ALI offers financial assistance to members who are judges and public-sector lawyers to offset the costs of attendance. Eligible members will receive an email with details and a link to apply within a week of registering for the Meeting.
Please contact the Membership Department by email to membership@ali.org or by phone to (215) 243-1624 for more information.

You should pick up your badge at the ALI registration desk (Italian Room Foyer). You must pick up your badge before entering the Ballroom and wear it for all Meeting sessions and events.
We use a green dot on a badge, together with a green lanyard, to indicate that the wearer is a newly elected member of the Institute, and a red dot to designate those attending an Annual Meeting for the first time. Keep an eye out for these members, so you can welcome them to ALI and to the Meeting!
Officers and members of the Council are designated by a blue dot on a badge—don’t hesitate to introduce yourself to them.
Yes. There is a Welcome Dinner for New Members and First-Time Attendees on Sunday, May 19, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at John’s Grill. This is an invitation-only event. New members should register to attend as part of the online registration process. This event is an excellent opportunity to get to know fellow new members and first-time attendees before the Annual Meeting begins. It will feature a brief presentation for members attending their first Annual Meeting, covering topics of basic protocols and ALI traditions.
On Monday, May 20, ALI will host a Members Luncheon Welcoming the Class of 2023 at the Westin St. Francis. The luncheon will feature a discussion about our new Constitutional Torts project between ALI Director Judge Diane P. Wood and Pamela S. Karlan of Stanford Law School. Members of the Class of 2023 will receive a complimentary ticket.
Visit the Projects (www.ali.org/projects) section of our main website for more information on the projects on the Meeting agenda.
