Linda Lea Margaret Viken has practiced family law for over 45 years. Her practice encompassed a wide range of family law matters including: divorce, custody, adoption, premarital agreements, cohabitation agreements, child support, negotiating and drafting separation agreements She also conducted family law mediation, but anticipates closing her practice at the end of 2022.
Ms. Viken was a Board Certified Family Law Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, served as President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, was a member of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and is a Diplomate of the American College of Family Law Trial Lawyers. She is certified by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers as a family law arbitrator. Ms. Viken also served 8 years in the South Dakota Legislature.
In addition to being the first woman Magistrate Judge for Pennington County, Ms. Viken was named “Trial Lawyer of the Year” by the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association and received the University of South Dakota Law School Law Review Outstanding Alumnus Award .
