U.S. Army Regular Officer Ordance Corps, with detail to JAGC in the grade of Captain.  Four years on Army Staff culminating as Assistant to the General Counsel of the Army.  Awaded U.S. Army Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and Army Staff Badge.  Appointed (many years later) Brigadier General and Commanding Officer, Maryland Defense Force (State Guard arm of Maryland Military Department).  Awarded Maryland National Guard Distinguished Service Cross.  Also served as Lieutenant Colonel, Civil Air Patrol as rated Pilot with Instrument Rating.  Awarded CAP Distinguished Service Medal.

Judicial:

U.S. Magistrate, D.Md.  Appointed by President Reagan as U.S. District Judge, D.Md., 1986.  Retired as Chief Judge, D.Md.

Teaching:

University of Maryland.  University of Baltimore.  Law School courses taught included: U.C.C., Evidence, Business, Estates and Trusts, and English Legal History.  Adjunct, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.  Grand Rounds twice for physicians of Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Chairman, Governor's Emergency Management Advisory Council.  Commanding Officer, Maryland Defense Force.  Chairman, Commission on Best Practices for Use of Police Body-Worn Cameras. Chairman, Handgun Permit Review Board.
