The Institute in Legal Literature

The ALI’s continuing effort to develop Principles and Rules of Transnational Civil Procedure, now cosponsored by the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT), continues to receive major international scholarly attention. Vers un procès civil universel? Les règles transnationales de procédure civile de l’American Law Institute, published by Editions Panthéon Assas, contains an edited transcript, with later reflections by some of the participants, of a conference held in October of 2000 at Université Panthéon-Assas (Paris II), during which the project was introduced to France. UNIDROIT’s Uniform Law Review (Vol. VI, 2001-4) is devoted entirely to discussions of the project by both its participants and outside commentators from many different countries. Conferences held earlier this year in Mexico, England, and Russia are expected to result in published volumes on the project as well.

Those interested in obtaining either or both of the volumes already available may contact ALI Deputy Director Michael Greenwald (mgreenwald@ali.org).
