Restatement of the Law Third, Employment Law
This new Restatement project addresses Employment Law, an area of the law in need of clarification, simplification, and adaptation to social conditions. Although important federal and state statutes regulate the employment relationship, major aspects continue to be governed by law developed by state appellate courts. In addition, doctrine has changed significantly in recent decades. The Discussion Draft presents two subjects: the nature of the employment contract and the public-policy exception to employment at will. Subjects likely to be presented in the years ahead include work on employeremployee torts and work on employee privacy.
